THE CLIENT: Media Production Company working in a hostile environment.
Last minute location changes in a hostile environment, managed with our support, achieves all editorial goals.
THE TASK: Security support for documentary crew working in Afghanistan.
Security support was needed by a production company working with an NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) in Afghanistan to produce their documentary (The Last Hope). The client particularly needed someone to become an integral part of the production team on the ground. Planning before deployment included a thorough threat assessment and arranging support logistics, including medical support and emergency evacuation plan.
THE ROLE: Demonstrating the value of production security to all the crew
We allocated on of our media security advisors to the task, experienced in working with production teams. He initially had to convince some crew and NGO members of the value of security support, despite the production company wanting to ensure their duty of care. During the planning phase, every effort was taken to emphasise the value of his role. Once on the ground, all the preconceived ideas were completely dispelled and our security advisor integrated seamlessly into the team.

FLEXIBILITY UNDER PRESSURE: Short notice location changes handled with minimal effect on schedule
With less than 10 days to deployment, the client changed location to Iraq; planning for the initial location of Afghanistan had taken months. Despite this change and with Prime’s knowledge and experience, all appropriate logistic support and resources were put swiftly in place, ensuring a safe and successful trip.
THE RESULT: Editorial goals achieved successfully, crew safety ensured.
Without detracting from his primary function, our security advisor could still assist the crew in achieving their editorial goals. The team appreciated the confidence they gained from his continual assessment and risk management. They commented saying they would not have achieved what they did without his contribution.
