Including staff training in the security solution increases safety and cost effectiveness at major sporting event
THE TASK: Balancing media staff training with on the ground support for a more effective result
Sky Sports News wanted security support for the news crew covering the European Football Championship finals in France; Prime had been providing support at other football matches for several years. For such a major event, Prime encouraged a more proactive approach, engaging with the management team six months in advance. The plan was to include a level of safety training for staff as well as the traditional ground security cover.
THE TEAM: Effective training across the team
Sky Sport News production teams had different job functions and levels of experience. Our trainers had to ensure the same learning outcomes were achieved whilst tailoring each session to accommodate individual needs. Where required, we added extra modules for specific subjects.
THE BESPOKE SOLUTION: Increased staff safety awareness with full support from Prime.
On deployment, the staff now had better long-term safety awareness, allowing everyone to be more flexible on the ground. We also had a team of security advisors based in France with the crews and directly managed from Sky Sports News HQ. When required, this core team in France was bolstered with additional advisors. Overall a better service was offered in a cost effective way.
